Swimming is a sport that you can participate in for a lifetime. From a 4 year-old learning to swim to a USA swimmer preparing for sectionals, from a 85 year old Masters swimmer getting ready for Nationals to the Paralympian travelling the world competing for their country, swimming should always be fun. My mission is to promote a lifelong love of swimming; I believe that every lesson, drill, or set should have a purpose behind it so that swimmers gain a better mastery of how their body moves through the water. My clients see noticeable progress each lesson using the principles of biomechanics, motor learning and over 30 years of experience teaching and coaching swimming. Every time you leave the wall or dive off the block you should Swim with a Purpose!
My name is Alex, I’m 18 years old, and I have Cerebral Palsy. I have been swimming
competitively since I was 12 years old with Coach Kris. She has pushed me so much these past
6 years to make sure I improve. She helped me transition as a para swimmer and has learned
all the in and outs of the program to make sure I’m most successful. She helps me achieve my
goals and makes changes to practices to best suit my needs. She is the only coach that fully
understands the way I swim and always there to help me adjust my strokes to be the most
effective. She is a big part of why I’m able to continue my swimming career at a Division 2
college team next year and one day I hope to be able to go to the Paralympics with her by my
side.I have triplets now turning 18, one with a physical disability that loves the water. Eight years
ago, she went in for major surgery in January and by June she was back in the pool under
the instruction of Kris Goodrich. Alex has made huge strides with her coach swimming for a
D1 high school swim team and starting College in the fall as a D2 swimmer. Coach Kris has
dedicated herself to many successful accomplished swimmers of all ages over the years. She
has not only coached Alex but encouraged her to become a Para swimmer and work toward
her goal of achieving national cuts. Every step of the way she has pushed Alex, been
supportive and made her work hard to be successful. I would highly recommend Coach Kris for
any age and any level as she gives more then swim lessons – she is a life mentor.
